Η μοίρα της σύγχρονης Ελλάδας

Μήπως τα προβλήματα της σύγχρονης Ελλάδας δεν είναι στην πραγματικότητα και τόσο “σύγχρονα”; Μήπως υπάρχει μια εγγενής κακοδαιμονία, ηθελημένη και αθέλητη, που εμποδίζει αυτή τη χώρα, η οποία εντούτοις “αναζητεί τον εαυτό της με πάθος”, να βλέπει το “κεντρικό” και να είναι “επίκαιρη”;

Αυτά είναι μερικά μόνο από τα καίρια ερωτήματα στα οποία προσπαθεί να δώσει απαντήσεις το δοκίμιο του Κώστα Αξελού “Η μοίρα της σύγχρονης Ελλάδας” που μόλις κυκλοφόρησε από τις εκδόσεις Νεφέλη, σε μετάφραση της Κατερίνας Δασκαλάκη. Πρόκειται για ένα κείμενο σπάνιας διορατικότητας, “προφητικό” θα μπορούσε να πει κανείς. Ο Κώστας Αξελός είχε μόλις συμπληρώσει τα τριάντα του χρόνια όταν το πρωτοδημοσίευσε στο γαλλικό περιοδικό “Esprit”, τον Ιούλιο του 1954. Ο σημερινός αναγνώστης, κυρίως ο Έλληνας αναγνώστης, που θα θελήσει να εντρυφήσει στις σελίδες του και να κατανοήσει το νόημά τους, θα μείνει έκπληκτος από την τραγική επικαιρότητα των παρατηρήσεων και των διαπιστώσεων του στοχαστή, οι οποίες διατυπώθηκαν πριν από πενήντα έξι χρόνια και δεν έχουν χάσει τίποτα από την τραγική τους επικαιρότητα.

Αξίζει να σημειωθεί εδώ ότι το (νεανικό) αυτό κείμενο του Κώστα Αξελού είναι και το πρώτο που εκδίδεται αυτοτελώς, μετά το θάνατό του στις 4 Φεβρουαρίου 2010.

DONATION OF EXCEPTIONAL FOLKLORE MATERIAL ABOUT IMATHIA AT THE CENTRAL PUBLIC LIBRARY OF VERIA

The Central Public Library of Veria would like to warmly thank the Painter and Ethnographer from Veria Mrs. Chrysa Kostopoulou for an exceptional donation. Mrs. Kostopoulou has donated all the original material she had gathered between 1978-1985 concerning customs and morals as well as traditional clothes of the region of Imathia. This material includes 75 testimonies of women and men (aged 65 – 95) from our prefecture.
The donation consists of 39 original tapes, 39 CDs, one book and 351 old photographs from Imathia.
All the interviews and pictures will be uploaded to the digital repository of MEDUSA (http://medusa.libver.gr) with free access so that ‘everybody can use it for future research’ according to Mrs. Kostopoulou’s wish.
MEDUSA gathers the intellectual, historic and cultural heritage of the city of Veria and the broader region of Imathia. It includes 4,882 items, 62 videos, 2,844 books, 1,495 pictures, heirlooms, works of art etc.

Mrs. Chrysa Kostopoulou was born in Veria and graduated from the eight-class high-school of Veria. She holds a diploma of the ECOLE A.B.C. DE DESIGN, where she was taught by the renowned painter Fanis Galanos (1958— 1961).
She has a career of 43 years in painting with 14 individual and 15 group exhibitions, 3 of them international.
Some of her works have been published in the album ‘PEOPLE’S HOUSES AND MANOR HOUSES OF IMATHIA’. Her work is also mentioned in the book ‘GREEK PAINTERS’ by Stelios Lidakis (1976), in ‘IMAGES OF IMATHIA’ by Giogos Melikis (1977), in the ‘ALBUM OF GREEK ARTISTS’ by A.K. Kourtikakis (1979) and in ‘COSMOS’ Encyclopedia. Her paintings have always been acknowledged by art critics in the press and television.
In 2003 the Municipal Council of Veria, in a unanimous decision, gave Mrs. Kostopoulou the Golden Medal of the City of Veria for her ‘contribution to preserving the ethnographic, historic and cultural heritage of Veria’.

Αυτό το καλοκαίρι, η Εθνική Βιβλιοθήκη της Ελλάδος σε συνεργασία με το δίκτυο δημόσιων και δημοτικών βιβλιοθηκών του Future Library μας καλεί να ανακαλύψουμε από την αρχή, τους μαγικούς κόσμους που κρύβονται στη βιβλιοθήκη. Μία από τις βιβλιοθήκες που παίρνουν μέρος στο πρόγραμμα είναι η Δημόσια Κεντρική Βιβλιοθήκη της Βεροίας, μια βιβλιοθήκη που τιμήθηκε από τον Ίδρυμα Bill & Melinda Gates καθώς έχει επιφέρει θετικές αλλαγές στις ζωές των πολλών ανθρώπων που εξυπηρετεί! Αυτή η συμμετοχή, ήταν η αφορμή για να έχουμε μια ενδιαφέρουσα κουβέντα, σχετικά με τις βιβλιοθήκες της σύγχρονης εποχής, με τον αναπληρωτή διευθυντή της Αντώνη Γκαλίτσιο.

Κύριε Γκαλίτσιο, η Δημόσια Κεντρική Βιβλιοθήκη της Βεροίας είναι… βιβλιοθήκη; Και γιατί;

Φυσικά και είναι Βιβλιοθήκη αλλά όχι μία παραδοσιακή Βιβλιοθήκη. Διαθέτει μία ιδιαίτερα σημαντική συλλογή 130.000 τεκμηρίων. Τα τελευταία χρόνια οι Βιβλιοθήκες σε όλο τον κόσμο αλλάζουν, ακολουθούν τις εξελίξεις και προσπαθούν να καλύψουν τις ανάγκες του  κόσμου για πληροφόρηση, μάθηση και ψυχαγωγία. Έτσι, η συλλογή μας, εκτός από βιβλία, εφημερίδες και περιοδικά, περιλαμβάνει cd, dvd, kindles, tablets, επιτραπέζια παιχνίδια, έργα τέχνης ακόμα και φωτογραφική μηχανή, η οποία είναι διαθέσιμη για δανεισμό. Επιπλέον διαθέτει 17 υπολογιστές για δωρεάν και γρήγορη πρόσβαση στο διαδίκτυο. Στο τμήμα των υπολογιστών υπάρχει εγκατεστημένο πρόγραμμα συνθετικής ομιλίας για την υποστήριξη ατόμων με μαθησιακές δυσκολίες. Επιπλέον υπάρχουν εργαστήριο με 3d printer, χώρος μελέτης, χώρος έμπνευσης, εργαστήρι πολυμέσων (media lab), ένα πολύχρωμο και ανανεωμένο παιδικό τμήμα, τμήμα τοπικής ιστορίας. Ένας φιλόξενος χώρος, ελεύθερος και ανοιχτός σε όλους.

Πως μπορεί μια δημόσια βιβλιοθήκη να καινοτομήσει;

• Με το να ακούσει τι έχει να της πει ο κόσμος, οι επισκέπτες της, τα μέλη της.
• Με το να παρακολουθεί τις τάσεις και τις εξελίξεις στον κόσμο και να προσπαθήσει να τα παρουσιάσει στο κοινό της.
• Με το να τολμά.

Αυτό μπορεί να συμβεί με απλά πράγματα. Εδώ και 3 περίπου χρόνια, μέλη της βιβλιοθήκης μας, μέσα από τις ερωτήσεις που μας έκαναν μας ώθησαν στο να ξεκινήσουμε να προσφέρουμε και «κοινωνικές υπηρεσίες». Έτσι βοηθάμε τον κόσμο να συμπληρώσει το βιογραφικό του, να κάνει αίτηση για την κατασκήνωση, για το επίδομα θέρμανσης, για τις ηλεκτρονικές υπηρεσίες του ΟΑΕΔ κλπ.

Για ποιο λόγο τιμήθηκε η Δημόσια Κεντρική Βιβλιοθήκη της Βέροιας με το βραβείο «Access to Learning Award 2010″ από το Ίδρυμα Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation;

Στην επίσημη ανακοίνωση που έκανε το Ίδρυμα Bill and Melinda Gates αναφέρει τα παρακάτω: «Το Βραβείο Πρόσβαση στη Μάθηση 2010 του Ιδρύματος Bill & Melinda Gates τιμά τη Δημόσια Κεντρική Βιβλιοθήκη της Βέροιας ως επιτυχές πρότυπο βιβλιοθήκης στην Ελλάδα και σε όλο τον κόσμο, για τη δημιουργική χρήση των υπηρεσιών πληροφόρησης και τεχνολογίας για την ικανοποίηση των οικονομικών, εκπαιδευτικών και πολιτιστικών αναγκών περισσοτέρων από 180.000 ανθρώπων.»

Η Deborah Jacobs, Διευθύντρια της πρωτοβουλίας Διεθνείς Βιβλιοθήκες (Global Libraries) για το Ίδρυμα Bill & Melinda Gates είπε «Η Βιβλιοθήκη της Βέροιας έχει φέρει θετικές αλλαγές στις ζωές των πολλών ανθρώπων που εξυπηρετεί»

Ο Βασίλης Ν., οδηγός ταξί – τακτικό μέλος της βιβλιοθήκης, όταν τον ρώτησαν για το βραβείο είπε: «οι Βεροιώτες είχαν σε πολύ μεγάλη εκτίμηση τη Βιβλιοθήκη μας πολύ πριν την ανακαλύψει ο Bill Gates. Είναι το κάτι άλλο»

Εμείς, όσοι εργαζόμαστε στη βιβλιοθήκη της Βέροιας, συμφωνούμε με  την άποψη του Βασίλη Ν. και λέμε ότι η Βιβλιοθήκη μας είναι «το κάτι άλλο» και καλούμε όλο τον κόσμο να τη γνωρίσει. Οφείλουμε να αναφέρουμε την καταλυτική συμβολή του κ. Γιάννη Τροχόπουλου, ο οποίος οραματίστηκε τη νέα μορφή της βιβλιοθήκης, την έκανε πραγματικότητα και την οδήγησε σε αυτή τη μεγάλη διάκριση.

Πως λειτουργεί η Βιβλιοθήκη;

Η Βιβλιοθήκη είναι Νομικό Πρόσωπο Δημοσίου Δικαίου και υπάγεται στο Υπουργείο Πολιτισμού, Παιδείας και Θρησκευμάτων. Στηρίζει τη λειτουργία της στους ελάχιστους πόρους του Υπουργείου και σε δωρεές ιδιωτών και άλλων οργανισμών (χρηματικές δωρεές ή σε είδος). Οι κάτοικοι του Νομού και όχι μόνο, νιώθουν περήφανοι και στηρίζουν τη Βιβλιοθήκη που έφερε μία τόσο σημαντική διάκριση στον τόπο τους.

Παρατηρείτε κάποια διαφοροποίηση της αναγνωστικής συμπεριφοράς τους τελευταίους μήνες; Και στην εποχή της κρίσης γενικότερα;

Αναμφισβήτητα οι αναγνωστική συμπεριφορά των ανθρώπων αλλάζει σύμφωνα με τις επιταγές της εποχής.  Η βιβλιοθήκη μας εξακολουθεί να έχει πολύ μεγάλη επισκεψιμότητα για τα ελληνικά δεδομένα και δανείζει περίπου 200.000 τεκμήρια το χρόνιο. Παρατηρούμε ότι οι σταθερές αξίες εξακολουθούν να είναι η κλασσική λογοτεχνία και η σύγχρονη ελληνική λογοτεχνία. Πολλοί είναι αυτοί που επιλέγουν βιβλία ιστορικά ή οικονομικά. Είναι πολύ ευχάριστο ότι δανείζονται πολλά παιδικά βιβλία. Μερικές από τις πιο συχνές εκφράσεις που χρησιμοποιούν οι αναγνώστες μας είναι «Δεν βλέπω καθόλου τηλεόραση. Δανείζομαι 10 βιβλία κάθε μήνα» και φυσικά «θα ήθελα να μου προτείνεται ένα βιβλίο καλογραμμένο, ευχάριστο, χωρίς καθόλου στεναχώρια».

Ποιο βιβλίο θα συνιστούσατε στον κόσμο;

H πρότασή μας είναι το διπλό εικονογραφημένο παραμύθι, από τη φετινή καλοκαιρινή εκστρατεία,»Μαλάλα: ένα γενναίο κορίτσι / Ικμπαλ: ένα γενναίο αγόρι» της Jeanette Winter, εκδόσεις  Παπαδόπουλος. Ένα εξαιρετικό βιβλίο που μέσα από την ιστορία δύο παιδιών από το Πακιστάν μας γνωρίζει τον αγώνα τους για ελευθερία και εκπαίδευση. Ο Ικμπαλ πάλεψε για την ελευθερία του και η Μαλάλα, που η ιστορία της είναι ευρέως γνωστή και η οποία βραβεύτηκε με Νόμπελ Ειρήνης, πάλεψε και παλεύει για το δικαίωμα των κοριτσιών στη μόρφωση. Δυο ιστορίες που μπορούν να πληροφορήσουν και να εμπνεύσουν μικρούς και μεγάλους.

Πόσο σημαντικό είναι ότι από φέτος την Καλοκαιρινή Εκστρατεία υποστηρίζει η Εθνική Βιβλιοθήκη;

H Εθνική Βιβλιοθήκη της Ελλάδος βρίσκεται στη διαδικασία μεταστέγασής της στις νέες εγκαταστάσεις της στο Κέντρο Πολιτισμού Ίδρυμα Σταύρος Νιάρχος. Ο ρόλος της είναι ο συντονισμός και η υποστήριξη των δημόσιων και δημοτικών βιβλιοθηκών κατά τη διάρκεια της καλοκαιρινής εκστρατείας. Η φετινή συνεργασία θα αποτελέσει το πρώτο βήμα για μια στενότερη σχέση μεταξύ των βιβλιοθηκών της χώρας με στόχο την αναβάθμιση των υπηρεσιών και την προσέλκυση νέων αναγνωστών.

Ποιος είναι ο στόχος της Καλοκαιρινής Εκστρατείας;

Στόχος είναι η προώθηση της ανάγνωσης, της δημιουργικότητας και της καινοτομίας για παιδιά και εφήβους.

Ποιο είναι το θέμα της φετινής καλοκαιρινής εκστρατείας και ποια η μέχρι τώρα ανταπόκριση;

Το θέμα της φετινής καλοκαιρινής εκστρατείας είναι «Εδώ δεν είναι βιβλιοθήκη…».  Η βιβλιοθήκη θα γίνει μηχανή του χρόνου και τα παιδιά θα ταξιδέψουν στο παρελθόν και στο μέλλον, θα γίνει πειρατικό καράβι, ατελιέ διάσημων ζωγράφων, χώρα θαυμάτων, αρωματικός κήπος, μουσείο και πολλά άλλα. Η ανταπόκριση είναι πολύ μεγάλη. Οι επισκέψεις των παιδιών στη βιβλιοθήκη το καλοκαίρι αυξάνονται κατά πολύ όπως επίσης και ο δανεισμός των βιβλίων.

This is not A Library : July 2015

This summer we open the doors of the Central Public of Veria and we surprisingly discover that ‘’ This is not a library!’’.

We continue the summer campaign for the promotion of reading and creativity, which the Νational Library of Greece organizes for the first time along with the network of public and municipal libraries of Future Library.

Under the title ‘’This is not a library’’, children , teenagers, adults, employees and libraries’ guests can discover through activities, events and workshops the different roles which a library can have. It can become a land of miracles, a hiding place for treasure, a time machine, a map, a museum, a big tree hollow or an aromatic garden. We are waiting for you…!

Activities for kids from 4 to 13 years old

This is not a library…..it’s the land of ‘wild things”.
When Max puts on the wolf’s suit and does naughty things, his mother calls him ‘’Wild thing’’ and sends him to bed without dinner. What will he meet at the magic world of wild things? This is not a library…..it’s the children’s home.
It’s the children’s world, where the kids are free to express themselves, without the adults’ criticism. It’s their meeting point, where they communicate, play or fight. The children can build the ideal ‘home’ for them, decorating it with toys and emotions! Experiential workshop by Prosvasi , Center for the Prevention of Addictions and the Promotion of Health (Prefecture of Imathia). For 9-11-year-old kids. Registration required. This is not a library…it’s a shelter of imaginary friends.
A lot of heroes in the stories have an imaginary friend who helps them in their adventures. All the imaginary friends are hidden in the library and we discover them by taking part in a treasure hunt. This is not a library…..it’s Joan Miro’s atelier.
We turn the library into the atelier of the famous painter Joan Miro, we look at his works of art, and we paint with his style, and write short poems inspired by his paintings’ titles. With Katerina Anastasiou. For 8-12-year-old kids. Registration required. At the Magic Boxes of the Library.

The workshop is addressed to those who are interested in, but don’t necessarily have, the knowledge of music theory and play, as well as to those who know music and wish to take part into a creative session.

Learn to listen
We enter the world of the sounds’ secrets through scientific knowledge, listening and music. We take a guess and analyze the sounds’ sources and timbres by listening from the high accuracy speakers of the professional music studio of the Library.

Getting to know the digital platform Cubase (two-meeting course)
We learn to process and cope with recorded material on Cubase, a popular program of sound and music production released by Steinberg, by using the basic digital tools and options that this program offers.
For teenagers over 16 and adults. Registration required. At the Media Lab of the Library, on the 1^st floor.

 All participants are kindly requested to inform in case of cancellation.

Η Μεσόγειος των λυγμών

1930. Η οικογένεια του Γερμανού αρχαιολόγου φον Σίφερ εγκαθίσταται στην Κρήτη. Η εξάχρονη Λένα ερωτεύεται το δεκάχρονο Γιόχαν με την πρώτη ματιά και μια ιστορία ρομαντικής αγάπης γεννιέται, με δυνατά συναισθήματα και πολλές ανατροπές. Οχτώ χρόνια αργότερα, το ειδύλλιο των δύο νέων θα διακοπεί απότομα, καθώς η οικογένεια φον Σίφερ επαναπατρίζεται στο Βερολίνο.
1940. Τις ελπίδες, τις υποσχέσεις και τα όνειρα θα σαρώσει ο άνεμος του πολέμου, ο οποίος
στο καταστροφικό πέρασμά του θα αφήσει στάχτες και ερείπια, πείνα και θρήνο, που θα αλλάξουν
τις ζωές όσων απέμειναν σε ολόκληρη τη γηραιά ήπειρο και θα καθορίσουν πεπρωμένα.

Ο ρομαντικός έρωτας της Κρητικοπούλας Λένας Δασκαλάκη για το Γερμανό Γιόχαν φον Σίφερ θα παρασυρθεί στην τρομακτική δίνη του Β΄ Παγκόσμιου Πολέμου και οι ήρωές μας θα πληρώσουν το τίμημα ο καθένας από το δικό του μετερίζι.

Τίποτα δεν είναι ίδιο και όλα πρέπει να ξεκινήσουν από την αρχή. Η δύναμη, η θέληση και η ελπίδα
της επιβίωσης θα αποδειχτούν το βάλσαμο για τα δεινά.
